Bracknell started the first half well, retaining posession and receiving the majority of the chances. Mid way through the first half, a good move from Bracknell down the right, saw the ball fired across the D and fell for Eric Barrett to slide the ball past the advancing keeper, a good clinical finish for the Beagles top scorer.
A few minutes later saw Bracknell lose their advantage, Thames Valley passed the ball  into the D, a mellee ensued and the ball was chipped up and lobbed over the stranded Bracknell keeper.
The second half saw an early Thames Valley goal as Bracknell looked to be tiring. Valley were in the ascendancy but couldn't finish the game off after some last ditch defending by Alan Longden and the Bracknell keeper.
As Bracknell held out against the onslaught, they hoped to steal a draw by shuffling the pack and hitting Valley on the break. This would have worked but for the Valley keeper thwarting the visitors one on one chance in the dying seconds of the game.
